Hello, I am Fernando MasiĆ” and I have Usher syndrome, a degenerative disease that causes deafblindness There is currently no cure and little information and resources are available in Spain. My role as an ambassador for the Usher Syndrome Coalition is to raise awareness of the disease and expand the knowledge and resources available to address the disease.
My cure for blindness is enthusiasm and the courage to face new challenges everyday. My determination to savor my remaining vision has led me to set a goal: to conquer the "Six Majors" the most iconic marathons in the world, including Berlin, Chicago, Boston, New York, London, and Tokyo.
Even though Usher Syndrome may feel like a countdown until my vision vanishes forever, it doesn't deter me from living an extraordinary life, filled with purpose and excitement. The Six Majors experience exemplifies how behind every challenge or disease lies an opportunity: the chance to discover within oneself a new person with incredible strength and courage. Thanks to the disease, I live life to the fullest, and I've discovered the fighter inside me My goal through this project is to spread awareness and establish an association in Spain to support all children and others affected by Usher Syndrome.
100% of the proceeds will go towards funding the Usher Syndrome Association Spain. Our association aims to raise awareness about Usher Syndrome, provide information and resources to those affected, offer emotional support, and focus on creating and strengthening an active community of those impacted.
